2019 – TOYOTA ETIOS
Toyota launches the Etios 2019 line in the Brazilian market, with innovations that put the compact at an even higher level within the segment. In line 2019, Toyota’s compact reaches the sixth year of life in the country, maintains a consistent evolution of its line-up and also adds new items to improve style, driving and safety. In this regard, the whole family, except for the X-STD, was reinforced with stability control systems (VSC), climb start assistant (HAC) and traction control (TRC). In terms of design and style, the central grille frame received fine black retouching in order to harmonize with the new headlining and headlights with black mask. Noting the rapid transformation of the compact segment, Toyota redesigned the line’s positioning to meet the current needs of its customers. The central configurations X, X-Plus, which replaces the XS, and XLS have received new and unique serial items. Thus, each version reinforces its own identity in order to reach the different profiles in each track. In line 2019, the brand also inserted a version exclusively for corporate sales, the X-STD M / T. Platinum maintains its position as top of the line, while Cross adventurer will no longer be produced as of this month. Since its launch in September 2012, the Etios has been recognized by Toyota DNA for quality, durability and reliability. Since then, Toyota has promoted several advances that have improved the level of refinement, in line with its technical strength. The changes made it possible for Etios to reach the reference status in terms of satisfaction and loyalty among its owners.
With the evolutionary climb of the last five years, the Etios got a quick response from the national market and became the best-selling Toyota model in Brazil. In 2017, it surpassed the mark of 70 thousand units (including the hatch and sedan bodies) sold in the national territory, reaching its best performance since the beginning of sales. In the international scenario, Toyota Etios has been consolidating itself as a reference in the taste of the Latin American consumer. Last year, sales exceeded 40,000 units, in the sum of all destinations: Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Peru, Costa Rica and Honduras, causing the factory in Sorocaba, where the vehicle is produced, to operate above capacity nominal, of 108 thousand units per year. Sales of the Etios 2019 line start on March 9, throughout the Toyota Dealership Network.
Versions and Specifications
Looking at the transformations in the compact segment in Brazil, Toyota re-adjusted the positioning of the Etios portfolio and increased the touch of sophistication in each model from entry to the top of the line. The changes begin with the arrival of a new element in the Etios 2019 family: the X-STD M / T version, a configuration focused on meeting the corporate sales extension and positioned below the X. The Etios 2019 will therefore continue with five versions available to the market, both in the hatchback and sedan body. Differential highlights are visible in the X, X-Plus, which comes in place of the XS intermediate, in addition to the XLS. In the list of enhancements of the X-Plus, compared to the previous XS, 15-inch alloy wheels and flashing lights were included in the rear-view mirrors. To emphasize, the option XLS comes with new design of wheels. The repaginated in this item gave the model an even more elegant air to the whole set. At the forefront of the portfolio, however, remains the Platinum specification, endowed with exquisite predicates that express the true voice of the customer in pursuit of increasingly sophisticated variations. The main aesthetic change in the Etios 2019 line, including hatchbacks and sedans, is apparent from its front design: from X to Platinum, the frame surrounding the Etios’ central grille has been black-colored and amplifies the emblem area. This change, in addition to considering gain in apparent robustness, makes an elegant combination with the black mask, which will cover headlights and lanterns of the vehicle. To harmonize with the aesthetic enhancements of the set, Toyota has simplified the number of colors available for the Etios 2019. Silver, pearl white and solid colors, black, gray and even the new super-red color are available.
One of Etios’ biggest differentiators is its extensive list of comfort and convenience items in each version. The following transmission boxes are available: X-STD six-speed manual, six-speed manual and four-X and X-Plus automatic (hatch and sedan); XLS and Platinum only four-speed automatic (hatch and sedan).
New security items
The Toyota Etios enhancement trajectory passes, primarily, through the evolution and reinforcement of the model’s safety items. This story of gradual improvements began to be written early in its history in the market, when the Etios became the first compact car in the country to win four stars (of five possible) in protection for the passengers of the front seats in the test of collision of Latin NCAP. The merit is a result of Toyota’s concern and focus on safety from the design of the vehicle. Its body has several points of impact absorption and programmable deformation, following the global standards of the brand. One of the factors that denote safety as a priority for Toyota has been carefully worked on the Etios 2019 line as well. The line-up, considering the X, X-Plus, XLS and Platinum versions, follow new passive safety systems. Included in the list are: stability control systems (VSC), climb start assist (HAC), and traction control (TRC). The reinforcements put the Etios one step ahead in the vehicle safety experience and postulate the model among the safest compact in the Latin American market. In line 2019, safety equipment such as: head restraint, three-point seat belt for the rear seat center passenger and ISOFIX child seat anchorage system are standard. Reinforcement is guaranteed by dual front airbag and ABS brakes with electronic brake distribution (EBD), ensuring directional control in emergency braking. Over these years, Toyota has never failed to implement improvements in its model. In recognition of these initiatives, Toyota’s compact has become a symbol of customer satisfaction and loyalty. Of the total customers who exchanged their Etios, 50% bought a new Etios. Much of this credibility is due to the model’s cost of ownership. Up to 60,000 km, the total cost with revisions is just over R $ 2,800.00, one of the lowest in the market.
